What the piece shows

Aoraki / Mount Cook

The summit is a ridge, not a point: Low Peak, Middle Peak, then High Peak at 3,724 m. On 14 December 1991, part of the east face collapsed and the mountain lost about ten metres. To the east, the Tasman Glacier runs down for 23 km; to the west, the Hooker drops towards its lake. The valley floor is at around 750 m: nearly 3,000 m of elevation range. At 30 m, the summit ridge rounds off slightly.
