What the piece shows

Mount Everest

The frame holds the summit, Lhotse and Nuptse in the same block. Between the three you see the Western Cwm, the hanging valley that climbs to 6,000 m. Below it, the Khumbu Icefall breaks the slope down to base camp, at 5,364 m. On the north side, the Rongbuk ridge and glacier. About 3,500 m of vertical between the foot of the glacier and the point. At 30 m resolution the south-east ridge stays sharp, but the Hillary Step does not come out.
