What the piece shows
Here it is not a peak that counts, it is the void. Across 40 km you get the South Rim at around 2,100 m, the higher North Rim at 2,683 m at Point Imperial, and the Colorado right at the bottom at 750 m. Between the two, Bright Angel Canyon cuts the plateau from north to south, and the granite gorges narrow down at river level. Push the exaggeration to ×1.5: the stepped terraces become readable under your finger.
