What the piece shows
Sixteen kilometres, because the Grand Combin is not a point. The Combin de Grafeneire holds the centre, the Valsorey to the west, the Tsessette to the east. To the north, the Corbassière glacier runs down almost ten kilometres to 2,300 m — it is what structures the whole piece. The Corridor seracs bar the north flank. At the bottom of the frame, the Panossière hut at around 2,640 m and more than 2,000 m of vertical up to the summit.
