What the piece shows
Here the interest comes from the contrast. The lake comes out as a smooth plane at 372 m, without a single fold, and all around it the walls rise in one step: the Rochers de Naye at 2,042 m right above Montreux, the Grammont at 2,172 m on the Valais side, the Dent d'Oche at 2,222 m on the French shore. The Rhône delta closes the end of the lake at Villeneuve. Framed at 22 km, the largest difference passes 2,000 m.
