What the piece shows
Framed at 14 km, the Rigi appears for what it is: a detached massif, ringed by water on almost every side. Lake Zug to the north at 413 m, Lake Lucerne to the west at 434 m, the Lauerzersee to the south at 447 m — and 1,797 m at the summit, close to 1,385 m of height difference from Zug. The molasse steps on the Weggis side come out well, as does the ridge of the Rigi Hochflue to the south, above the Lauerzersee.
