What the piece shows
Here the point is not the altitude, it is the step. The plateau runs for nearly 3 km, flat as a table, and its north face drops in a single sweep onto the city. The Platteklip Gorge splits it in two. To the right, Devil's Peak, 1,000 m; to the left, Lion's Head, 669 m. To the south, the Twelve Apostles run along the coast. At 30 m resolution, the cliff becomes a very steep slope rather than a clean wall.
