Uluru

Uluru is not a peak, it is a monolith. 3.6 km long and 1.9 wide, it rises 348 m above a plain without a fold. The 863 m quoted are above sea level: the desert is already at 515 m. The 12 km framing isolates the block and its ring of sand. Its flanks are almost vertical and fluted: at 30 m resolution, the flutes disappear and the rock comes out like a smooth loaf.
